Wealth Management Leadership Hiring
Azon is a specialist wealth management executive search firm in Dublin, providing retained executive search and leadership advisory across Ireland.
We help wealth managers, private banks, stockbrokers, investment firms and family offices appoint the leaders who grow client assets, run investment teams and keep the business compliant with Central Bank of Ireland requirements.
The Irish wealth market is changing. Firms are consolidating, private equity is backing new platforms, a generation of senior advisers is approaching retirement and, for the first time in Ireland’s history, significant inter-generational wealth needs to be carefully managed. Each of these raises the stakes on senior hires.
Many of these roles are pre-approval controlled functions (PCF), so the right candidate needs the experience, the client relationships and a fitness and probity record that will stand up to scrutiny.

Wealth Management Search FAQs
What roles do you recruit for in wealth management?
We recruit CEOs, managing directors, Chief Investment Officers, heads of private clients, investment directors, compliance and risk leaders and heads of distribution. We also hire CFOs and COOs for wealth and investment firms. We work at director level and above.
Can you recruit for PCF roles?
Yes. Many senior wealth management roles are pre-approval controlled functions under the Central Bank of Ireland fitness and probity regime. We screen candidates for this from the start and support your firm through the approval stage.
How do you assess a candidate’s client book?
We look at the size and type of the relationships, how long they have been held and how they were won, along with any restrictive covenants. The aim is a realistic view of what is likely to follow the candidate, not the headline figure.
How should senior wealth management roles be paid?
Base salary is only part of the package. Senior hires usually expect a bonus and, increasingly, long-term incentives or equity, particularly in private equity-backed firms. We advise on market rates and structure before the search starts so the first offer is accepted.
How do you plan for adviser and leadership succession?
Many Irish wealth firms rely on a small number of senior advisers and founders. We help map internal and external successors early, so a retirement or departure does not put client relationships at risk.
How long does a wealth management search take?
Most searches take eight to twelve weeks from briefing to accepted offer. Notice periods in wealth management are often three to six months, and PCF approval can add time before the start date.
Is the search confidential?
Yes. We approach candidates directly and never advertise the role, which protects your firm, your clients and the candidate’s current position.
How is this different from financial services executive search?
Our financial services executive search covers banking, insurance and wider financial institutions. Wealth management search focuses on private client, investment and advice businesses, where client relationships and individual regulatory approval are central to the hire.
